Look through the calendar to see what is going on in and around the Blaenavon area.
The events listed are no more than 1 hours drive from the World Heritage Site so why not use Oakfield B&B as your base?
Hopefully there is something for everyone!

Velothon Wales 2018 @ Start and finish in Cardiff
Jul 8 all-day

Velothon on the Blorenge Mountain road signVelothon Wales 2018

One of the most unique features of Velothon Wales is the mass start in the heart of Cardiff city centre. Competitors will be able to cycle on completely traffic free roads along the entire 140km route.  Starting in Cardiff, passing an abundance of striking architecture and iconic landmarks before rolling out into the Welsh countryside and on through Newport and the Borough Counties of Monmouthshire, Caerphilly and our home Torfaen.

The route climbs the famous ‘Tumble’ from Abergavenny to Blaenavon – the highest climb on the course.

Up to 18,000 riders are expected to take part with the majority fundraising for good causes.  The closed road sportive event will run alongside a UCI sanctioned professional race. There will be a King and Queen of the mountain challenge too.

For a detailed route map go to http://www.velothon-wales.co.uk

So why not practice on the Tumble before the big day while enjoying the Brecon Beacons National Park, Big Pit, Blaenavon Ironworks and much more?
Store your bikes in our garage while making a weekend of it with family, and friends, and stay with us while exploring the richness of the Blaenavon World Heritage Site
