Throughout December there are a number of events taking place in, and around, the Blaenavon area.
Here’s a check list.
- Santa Specials at Blaenavon’s Heritage Railway Sat 3rd, Sun 4th, Sat 10th, Sun 11th, Sat 17th, Sun 18th and Weds 21st December. Children receive a gift from Santa in his new Grotto. Adults aren’t forgotten and can partake of a sherry and mince pie on the train ride.

3rd December is Christmas Craft Day with storytelling at Blaenavon World Heritage Centre & Library. Make a pottery Christmas gift or paint a Christmas tile at these ‘make ‘n take’ workshops. (small fee £1 per item).
3rd December sees the annual Christmas Concert for Blaenavon’s Male voice Choir. The concert starts at 7:00pm in Blaenavon’s Workmen’s Hall. Tickets are available from Mr. Wayne Rowles tel:01495 790514.
10th December will have Blaenavon’s Christmas Cracker in the town. There will be donkeys, craft & food stalls, live music and dancing, Santa’s grotto, go-karting and much more…
Santa will be visiting Blaenavon Ironworks on Sat 10th, Sun 11th, Sat 17th & Sun 18th December. Go along and meet him in his grotto.
The Castle Hotel is holding a Christmas Cider Festival from 2:00pm on 10th December so why not pop along for some festive cheer!
Rhymney Brewery will be hosting a comedy night ‘Brewery Ha!, Ha!‘ on 10th December at 8:00pm. Acts include Bethany Black and Anna Keirle.
Abergavenny Christmas Fair will be on Sun 11th December. Pop along to buy your festive food and drink and get ideas for the big day.
Father Christmas will be coming up from underground at Big Pit at 10:30 on Sun 18th December. Blaenavon Town Band will be there to greet him before he meets children in his cottage.
