Big Pit and the Ironworks will be open everyday throughout the summer.
The trains will be running every weekend and also on Wednesdays throughout the school holidays.

WWII Defence of Blaenavon

10:30am – 4:00pm Sat 5th & Sun 6th August at Blaenavon Ironworks

The return of this very popular event at Blaenavon Ironworks
Enjoy re-enactments, weapon and defence displays alongside music from the era.
Listen to wartime stories around the fireside in Stack Square.
Talk to living history actors to get a feel for how they defended their town and families.

Lots to see and do with the atmosphere of WWII.

 

 

Lazy Summer Sundays August

Summer Sundays

Sunday 6th August: 2:00 – 4:00 pm,  Teddy Bear’s Picnic.
Mad Mel will be there to entertain so bring along teddy for fun and games.  A prize will be given for the best dressed bear. (Cost £1.00 per bear entered).
Sunday 13th August: 2:00 – 4:00 pm, Celynen Collieries Silver Band.
Sunday 20th August: 2:00 – 4:00 pm, Cwmbran Brass Band.

Recycling Crafts & Bushcraft

Wednesdays 2nd, 9th & 16th August 11:00am – 4:00pm
Make compost heads, bird feeders and bird houses. All made from recyclable materials usually thrown away.
Also join a Countryside Ranger to learn basic bushcraft skills.

Rock, Rail “N” Ale

Saturday 19th August from 11am until 9pm with live music, BBQ, Mobile Bar, ice cream available at Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway.

Starring Revival, as well as Taffy was a Theif, Broken Kama, Joe Kelly, Bryony Sier, Huw James, Ian Lynn Palmer, Howard Brook, Ellie Mccue, Ian Priday, Ruby Kelly, Pork Chop, Big Ben, Rae Goman, Rhys Powell and Cats Lost Its Tail.

August Transport Rally

15th Classic Transport Rally

Sun 27th & Mon 28th August Blaenavon’s Heritage Railway will be holding their 15th Annual Classic Transport Rally over the Bank Holiday weekend.
There will be a mix of classic and vintage vehicles on display, including buses and military vehicles.
Steam and diesel trains will be running and there will be models, scalextric and memorabilia to look at too. A great event for all the family.
